Twelve years ago today I asked this woman to be my wife.

Twelve years ago she said yes.

I’m not exaggerating when I say it gets better every single day.

Every.
Single.
Day.

You’d be so lucky to get a woman half as good as her. And I don’t want to see your comments about how your spouse is more awesomer. Save that for your blog.

You rock my world, woman.

Right about now Wendy and I are just over three hours away from Chicago (if all goes as planned; I’m actually writing this on Thursday (yesterday) evening) assuming we’ve not hit any snags.

In reality, it’s actually just a mini-vacation as it’s only a couple days but Wendy and I are taking in some much needed us-time.

We have plans to visit Shedd Aquarium, the Field Museum, Navy Pier and Sears Tower (at night) so we’ve got plenty to do.

However, you can keep up with us if you like. How?

• Twitter – I’ll be Twittering quite a bit so be sure and watch my stream for details. I’ll be sending images and whatnot along via Twitpic as we go.
• Vimeo – I’ll upload any videos we take to Vimeo when we get back to our hotel room Friday night so watch that to see what we’re doing.
• Flickr – Any still images we take during the day I’ll upload here. In reality, we’ll probably do more video than images though.

Kelsie’s hungry, so I look up a sweet and sour sauce recipe in Google and find this:

2 tbsp. cornstarch
1/2 c. sugar
1/4 c. white vinegar
1/4 c. pineapple juice
2 tsp. soy sauce
1/4 c. water

We didn’t have any cornstarch, so we replaced it with 1 tbsp. flour and whisked it real good, heating the mixture on medium just until it started to boil, then we removed it from heat.

I’m posting because I can’t believe how good this simple recipe is! I’m saying this is fantastic sauce! While it was warming it smelled a little vinegar-y but it turned out fantastic. Next time you make home made sweet and sour sauce, give this little recipe a shot. The recipe above made enough for about two servings.

Dad and I had chinese at the local buffet (we didn’t eat like it was a buffet; it’s just that the take out place is sloooow) where we talked about a bunch of different stuff. Then, we closed with our favorite chinese buffet dessert. One cup of vanilla ice cream, another full of Fanta orange. Mix to make a scrumptious impromptu orange dreamsicle-like substance. It’s oh-so-delish!

My wife also picked me up a new Starbucks coffee mug (that looks like their paper cups) plus some chocolate covered espresso beans. All in all, a fantastic Father’s Day.

Oh yeah… Kels slept in for Father’s Day. Imagine that. :)

Now, I snore (ask Scot about why he thinks I snore) and will occasionally wake my wife up, but for the most part, I don’t snore (too often). When my wife snores, it doesn’t really bother me. I can usually sleep through it (quite often I’ve fallen asleep to her little rumbles) as she’s not a chainsaw snorer. Her snores are usually more what you’d think a sleepy Pekinese would sound like.

Except for Tuesday night. Wendy was feeling pretty terrible Tuesday night, and after eating Christmas dinner leftovers at Mom and Dad’s I brought her home, and she immediately grabbed a blanket and fell asleep on the couch.

I was doing my thing around the house when I heard something louder than a Pekinese snoring coming from the couch. I went into the living room and found Wendy seriously sawing logs. Loud. I finally had the opportunity to prove to her that she did, in fact, snore.

So, I recorded it.

My cell phone has a voice recorder dealio built in, so I enabled it and held my phone right next to her face. The light from the inside screen was pretty bright, so I had to lean over the couch all contorted to be sure she didn’t wake from me recording her non-snoring.

Of course, I had to gloat after she woke up and let her listen to herself. While she didn’t outright deny it, I still think she’s skeptical. She did ask later in the evening, “was that really me?”

Yes, Wendy. That was really you.
