Talk about *your* poverty

I’m going to take a page right out of Compassion’s book and use their list of poverties:

  • Spiritual poverty
  • Economic poverty
  • Social poverty
  • Physical poverty
  • Emotional poverty

We’re all poor, in some way.

I’m going to take a guess that most people reading this aren’t economically poor. Either way, take a good, hard look at the list of poverties.

Can you put a checkmark next to one or more of them? If so, why?

2011 is fast approaching. What can you do differently in the new year to make progress toward erasing that checkmark?

And how can the church help you?

Genesis needs you #compassionthurs

It’s Thursday again which means a group of bloggers will be highlighting a Compassion child that’s been waiting six months or longer for sponsorship.

Here’s my ask of you: if you can’t sponsor Genesis, please tweet about Genesis and post a link on your Facebook wall. The more exposure Genesis gets, the greater chance she has of being sponsored.

Underdog

79 David and Goliath

This post was inspired by MarketerMikeE’s tweet. Thanks Mike!

When it comes to any kind of competition, whether it’s football, boxing, racing, or anything else, I always know who my Dad is going to root for.

He always roots for the underdog. He always has.

Why? Because the underdog is the every man.

The underdog is you. The underdog is me.

My biological father has perfectly modeled how my Heavenly Father operates.

David was the underdog when he faced Goliath.

Moses and the Israelites were the underdogs as Pharaoh and the Egyptians bore down on them.

Even though the outcome was assured, Jesus was the underdog against all of humanity.

Are you the underdog? If so, understand that God is rooting for you.

Do you know an underdog? Remind them today you’re rooting for them, and God is, too.
