My wife has a hang up about toilet paper

In her mind, a family’s love and respect for its other members is directly proportionate to their ability to refill the toilet paper roll if it’s empty.

More than once I’ve heard from the bathroom (door closed), “Now, you guys… come on!”

I don’t know about you, but if I’m doing something in the bathroom that requires toilet paper, I check to see if there’s any in there first. Don’t you? Doesn’t that only make sense? Does a carpenter go to his job site, then get mad at others because he forgot his hammer? Does a road worker get angry at family when he arrives at his worksite and realizes he left his big orange cones at home?

Let’s stop the madness people.

The fast: …and, that’s a wrap folks!

I’m breaking my fast.

Understand that it’s not hunger that’s causing me to stop. I’ve been seeing some… well, adverse effects from fasting, to the point that I’m not so sure it’s safe for me to keep going.

I’ll be breaking my fast around noon today, so I made it about 90 hours. It sucks that I’m not folding because of hunger, but I’m sure these adverse effects have to do with me being out of shape (just in you hadn’t noticed, I’m out of shape) or something similar.

Thanks for all the encouragement I’ve gotten over the past few days. It definitely means a lot to me.

It was a great experience, and I look forward to giving it another go in the future. To all of you still going, hang in there! I’m so, so proud of you guys.

The fast: T plus 60 hours

Well, two and a half days into the fast. I think I’ve seen a couple of the detox symptoms but I’m not entirely sure yet. Oddly enough, I’ve not yet ran into any major hunger pains. I’ve had a couple that brought me to attention, but they were very brief.

The only thing that’s been with me since late Monday night is a slight headache, which is normal.

Other than that, things seem to be fine. My wife says I’m “different”. My response; go drink some “Roots and Fruits” berry/vegetable drink for breakfast and let’s see if you’re different. :)

My brain was a little foggy at times during work yesterday as well. I’d be in the middle of a task, then suddenly realize I had been staring off into space for a few seconds. And NO, that’s not normal.

Don’t forget, we’re doing some simple worship and prayer tonight at MCC from 6pm to 7pm. It’ll just be a very informal time (as if eXchange is ever formal) as we pray and sing together to God.

The fast: T plus 36 hours

Went to bed last night with a crappy headache, and it’s hanging around this morning. From my research, there’s a detoxification process that occurs, and headaches are normal then, but that usually occurs around day three or four. I can’t really take any headache medicine as my stomach is empty, so I’ll just ride this one out. Could I be detoxifying this early?

Surprisingly, though, I have little to no hunger pains. Occasionally last night I’d have hunger pains for a few seconds, then it would go away. I probably had a half dozen of those, but they were quick. Otherwise, all is good.

Oh yeah, we have a company meeting this morning at work, and a full, hot breakfast is provided.

Nice. Excuse me while I get back to my breakfast, i.e. a bottle of Vitamin water.

The fast: T plus 24 hours

Well, I’m officially 24 hours into my juice and water fast.

I loaded up so much at the Chinese buffet yesterday (see my previous post) that I didn’t really even start to feel hunger pains until late this morning. Crazy thing is, if this were any other week, I’d have eaten breakfast. Makes you think.

I did try and drink that crazy red apple tomato Kagome juice this morning for “breakfast”. When I did my taste test over the weekend, I had a glass of said juice with some ice, and it wasn’t too bad. This morning, I got about three swallows in, and just couldn’t hack it. I think that stuff’s going down the drain; I feel like I’m drinking V8′s reject cousin from down south somewhere.

Sometime around noon-ish I got a few hunger pains but headed out of the office (to get away) to read through some fasting scripture. I also drank some Apple Banana fruit juice (a little too much, actually; my stomach sounds like there’s motorcycles racing inside) and then put away another 32 oz or so of water later in the day.

So, in reality, I don’t really feel affected by the fast yet. I have a distinct feeling, however, that when my wife starts cooking up her supper this evening, things may change. I knew I should have made her stick to cold cuts for the week.

In some of my reading today, I’ve found that the Jews really leaned on fasting when it came to things of great importance; whether they were marking certain occasions, mourning, seeking wisdom, or other such endeavors, fasting played a key part in those things. Perhaps a sign as eXchange moves into the new year.

Oh, and by the way; she made homemade chicken pot freakin’ pie last night (she made it before church, actually, to eat after we got home) and you know what she tells me when she arrives at church? “I think that chicken pot pie turned out really good.”

THANKS LADY. THANKS ALOT.

How are you doing with your fast?
