It’s really never about the music

My pal Scot sent me this quote earlier in the evening, and I must say, consider my world rocked.

“The only music minister to whom the Lord will say, “Well done, thy good and faithful servant,” is the one whose life proves what their lyrics are saying, and to whom music is the least important part of their life.” ~Keith Green

Keith… I feel ya. I think we in eXchange have known for a long time that it’s not really about the music. Standing up in front of 500, 1000, 10,000 people, will not get us a bigger mansion in heaven.

It’s about those who have need, and it’s about those that have giving to those that have not. We must be salt and light to the world, so says Jesus. It’s time for the world to be a bunch of rhinos.

Vote for DC*B as Artist of the Year on MSN!

Go here and vote for the David Crowder Band… right now!

Here’s the original post from David’s blog:

you may recall a certain tuesday, back in july of this year, where i posted a small deal about us being nominated for msn artist of the month. in it, i poked a little at one of our fellow nominees, busta rhymes, referring to him as, “mr. busta,” and making reference to mr. busta’s acting abilities, and then humbly requested that you go and vote for us, crushing mr. busta in the process. even though voting for this type of thing can be a bit awkward, you did. in fact, poor mr. busta was trodden by you and your clicking mouse. we won msn artist of the month, and it can now only be chalked up to your aptitude for online navigation and your cat-like-voting prowess that we are here once more. however, this time around, an entire annual cycle is at stake! sadly, mr. busta is nowhere to be found. no, with good people like kenny chesney, (he’s that country artist that used to be married to nicole kidman, right? i’m kidding, i’m kidding. sorry, rene.) and mrs. aguilera, and the artist prince, formerly known as “the artist formerly known as prince,” anyway, all i’m saying is this time around will be much more difficult. but we feel, based on your past performance, that we might just have a chance. and we’re pretty sure kenny isn’t paying attention since he’s on holiday in the islands, working on that fantastic tan and stocking up on coral necklaces for his next tour. so, please, while we have this small holiday window, while kenny is away, please, go vote your heart out and pass the word along to all your family, friends and foes.

James Kim found dead

Some awful news today. One of the technical editors at c|net, James Kim, who was lost in the Oregon wilderness, has been found dead. He and his family were in a car wreck around Thanksgiving and were missing until his wife, Kati, and their two kids were found a couple days ago.

James struck out into the wilderness in an attempt to find help, but his body was found today by Oregon law enforcement.

From KGW.com:

The body of James Kim was found Wednesday, after a massive search effort for the missing San Francisco man in the Southern Oregon wilderness.

His family was found safe Monday. Josephine County Undersheriff Brian Anderson said the body was found in the Big Windy Creek drainage at 12:03 p.m.

The Kims had been missing since Nov. 25, when they left Portland headed home after a holiday trip to the Pacific Northwest. They were to stay at a resort in Gold Beach. The family told their rescuers that James Kim left his family about 7:45 a.m. Saturday in search of help and went the way they had come, saying he would return by 1 p.m. if he found none. He did not return.

On Monday, searchers in a helicopter hired by the family spotted Kati Kim, 30, and daughters Penelope, 4, and Sabine, 7 months. They were airlifted to Three Rivers Community Hospital in Grants Pass where Sabine was admitted. She was released on Tuesday. All three were described in good condition.

My thoughts and prayers go out to the Kim family. Numbers 6 says:

24 ” ‘ “The LORD bless you
       and keep you;

25 the LORD make his face shine upon you
       and be gracious to you;

26 the LORD turn his face toward you
       and give you peace.” ‘

Some slightly misinterpreted signs (maybe?). Thanks Ben.
