Today’s reading is from Luke 7.
28-30″Let me lay it out for you as plainly as I can: No one in history surpasses John the Baptizer, but in the kingdom he prepared you for, the lowliest person is ahead of him. The ordinary and disreputable people who heard John, by being baptized by him into the kingdom, are the clearest evidence; the Pharisees and religious officials would have nothing to do with such a baptism, wouldn’t think of giving up their place in line to their inferiors.
“Pharisees and religious officials” is an intriguing statement. What’s that saying? The more things change, the more they stay the same? I find it very curious that even though Jesus has come back, it’s still pretty evident that the old ways, the ways of hate and greed and power, haven’t changed. The wording of 28-30 also says to me that it won’t ever change.
Lord GOD, I want to live a life of love and compassion. I want to follow who you are, I want your heart to be my heart. Your Word sets the guidelines for our right living, but may my selfishness and pride not get in the way of showing those who you are. May I act as your son in all things.

I’ll admit it. We’ve often let Kels be lazy, just for the sake of being lazy.
What’s happening, though, is she’s learning what it means to work under the tutelage of one Bob Medworth, band director extraordinaire. Kels wants to be at band early to practice, talk check her sets, and visit.
Not sure who he is? Just Google him along with the words “drum corps”, then sit down with a cup of coffee.
Today’s reading is from Revelation 22.
14-15″How blessed are those who wash their robes! The Tree of Life is theirs for good, and they’ll walk through the gates to the City. But outside for good are the filthy curs: sorcerers, fornicators, murderers, idolaters—all who love and live lies.
Those who wash their robes. What an interesting way to put it. The KJV says it like this; “Blessed are they that do his commandments”.
I also find it very interesting that the Bible specifies “all who love and live lies.” To me, that’s very different than someone who may be in a seedy occupation or lifestyle that don’t know who Jesus is.
If you know who Jesus is, and you choose to ignore him and do your own thing, that’s trouble. Then again, all of us choose to do our own thing more often than not. I mean, come on. Let’s be real about things.
I so often choose myself over others. It’s just the way of things. I don’t want it to be this way, and I tell myself I’m going to change, and sometimes I make the right decisions, but let’s talk about failure.
Then again, let’s not.
Lord God, your son still amazes me to this day. May I choose the straight and narrow path, and may I avoid a life of loving lies. I want to love the truth… the way, the truth and the life!

Dad, my friend Robert, and I played some golf yesterday morning. We arrived at sun-up to beat out the crowds, but as you can see, some golfers had already beat us to the tee. The temps were in the lower 60′s, making for a near perfect morning. When you see a sunrise like this, you just have to snag a shot. I grabbed this with my camera phone, and even though it’s not too detailed when you look at the full 1280 shot, it looks pretty good otherwise.
As Dad and I stood on the first tee, I said, “seeing how beautiful a morning it was on my way out, I had to say a prayer of thanks to God.” His response? “Oh yeah? Funny you say that; I sang ‘How Great is Our God’ as I drove out.”
Like minds…
