Live fully. Die empty.

Welcome to the new shawnw.org

I’m betting some of you are thinking "wow, big change!" I guess, going from the previous theme I was using (lots of bright blues and some tan, too) then yeah, there’s some difference. However, sometimes you just have to pull back and take stock so this paired-down theme just fits at this stage of shawnw.org’s life. I know it’s not flashy. Then again, my wife continually reminds me I’m not a flashy guy, so it all fits in the end.

So, where do we go from here? In reality, our focus isn’t going to change. I’m hoping I’ve made the site load a little faster for those of you on slower connections. Content wise, you may see a little more life journaling from time to time, more funny stuff, and ideally some tech articles that’ll help you get more things done than you get done now. Not that I’m accusing you of being lazy. If you were honest with yourself, you wouldn’t need me to point it out to you.

See what I did there? That’s called sarcasm. It’s all in good fun, though, I promise you.

33 baptisms

We had 33 baptisms last Sunday in eXchange. 12 tonight.

We didn’t win :(

For all of you kind people out there rooting for our (our being myself and Eric Louk) submission to the Transformers Fanaticons contest, we appreciate it, but in the end, we just weren’t big enough fans to win. Three other people (who were totally and completely obsessed with Transformers) won, and they’re probably most deserving.

Just in case you missed our four submissions the first time around, here they are again.

So… yeah. That’s it.

Temple desecration

Here’s a little blurb from an article by Perry Noble concerning food abuse. If you’re overweight, or have ever been overweight, you seriously need to check this out:

I’ve been in churches that have no problem at all going off on…oh, I don’t know, pick a sin…let’s say the abuse of alcohol. You will hear pastors and church members SCREAM about “the devils brew” and make swiping statements about who all who choose to partake of “that stuff.” I have heard self-righteous Christians proclaim, “Alcohol has never touched my lips” when it is also obvious that a treadmill has never touched their legs.

I know, I know–people have yelled at me about this before, “But Perry, it’s different…people DIE from abusing alcohol…they have car wrecks and such.” AND I agree…I have seen firsthand what alcohol abuse can do to someone. Trust me–I do not need a lecture here.

BUT I would argue that being overweight and even obese is just as bad…people are oblivious to the fact that they are literally eating themselves to death.

Check out the entire article right here, and be sure to bookmark Perry’s site (or add it to your feed reader) to watch for his future updates. Looking forward to what he has to say.

This also begs the question; what kind of shape is your temple in? Are you desecrating it? I know I’m not treating mine right. Maybe we all need to band together, get accountable, and get these temples our Lord has given us cleaned up. What do you think? Can we do it?
