GHDR Day 2

GHDR stands for Groundhog Day Resolutions. Get the scoop right here (and feel free to join me!) and check out David’s post here.

Hard to believe it’s been a month (and a day) since the last GHDR update. I’ve barely had enough time to get my goals rolling! Let’s see how I’ve done so far:

  • Work out regularly - I worked out less than five times since my GHDR Day 1 post. I’m not going to make excuses. I just didn’t get it done. However, two of those five times have been this past week so we’re moving in the right direction.
  • Convert our often unused office into a workout room - This is 99% done. I know in my GHDR Day 1 post I said it was done but “done” then was getting the desks broke down and the treadmill in there. Since then my wife painted (a neat yellowish color called Wheatgrass) and we got a TV mounted to the wall so we can watch our DVR’d shows while we work out (she likes Dr. Phil; I like The Office). I just have to get the cable properly ran and this project is a success!
  • Learn guitar - Because it’s taken some time to get the workout room done (which will also house my little guitar practice corner) I’ve not made as much headway as I’d have liked here. I did pick up a cheapy guitar stand with a leftover Amazon gift cert so, at this point, my little corner has a music stand (with guitar lesson book from my pal Scot), a stool and guitar ready to go. I have NO excuses for April not to pick up my guitar at least twice a week.
  • To eBay items that are simply taking up space - As a whole, this is the least important to me of my GHDR items. I’ve eBayed some items so far but haven’t listed any major things yet.
  • Learn to design, develop and publish Wordpress themes - I’m making this a major item for 2008 (mainly because the “convert office to workout room” item will be vacated from next month’s list). If I allow it to stay minor, I won’t give it the attention or priority it needs or deserves. I’ve done very little towards this so far but I have big plans for April.

What’s next month look like

I plan on sticking with the workout routine (not going for any major gains, just consistency) and picking up the guitar more often. Once I prove to myself that I can practice as often as I should, I’ll set some sort of goal like recording an easy song using my webcam and posting it for you guys. One step at a time, though.

I do have a couple Wordpress-related projects for April. I don’t want to share the details on them right now but I should have some fun stuff to show you with my next GHDR update.

See you on May 5th!
