GHDR Day 1
Mr. Productivity himself David Seah instituted Groundhog Day Resolutions in 2007 and, as of 2008, I’m officially jumping on the band wagon. There’s things I want to get done in my life and I’ve yet to find a decent system for getting there. Perhaps GHDR is the way to go.
Just in case you don’t know what Groundhog Day Resolutions are, read this article over on David’s blog for more details.
*UPDATE* David has posted his GHDR Day 1 post right here. Go read it.
I’ve created four GHDR’s for 2008. They’re as follows…
- Work out regularly - I’ve had my spurts in the past but it’s time to get serious. However, before I can reach this goal, another GHDR needed accomplished, which was to…
- Convert our often unused office into a workout room - As of 11:18am yesterday this became a reality. I spent a good portion of my time Saturday disassembling two desks and cleaning out the office in prep to move our treadmill in. Wendy was ill this past weekend but we got the treadmill moved in at 11:18 yesterday. The official workout routine starts tomorrow.
- Learn guitar - I’m a part time worship leader at eXchange and learning to play guitar to go along with singing lead will simply help improve, over all, what I can do in the worship leader position. I can already play piano so all I need to do is learn the technical part of playing acoustic guitar and its nuances. I didn’t really have any dedicated space to set up my "corner" but now that the office is bare, I’ve taken over a portion of it for my stool and music stand.
- To eBay items that are simply taking up space - I’m a gadget nut. What can I say? I often pick up gadgets (rarely are they new, though; I like finding deals on eBay, Amazon, etc.) but I have a metric crapton of unused gadgets just sitting in the
officeworkout room closet. My goal is to eBay one item a week. If nothing else, I’ll have 40 or so fewer gadgets by the end of this year and can use that extra money to help pay off our debt. I’ve already listed the first item.
I have an unofficial fifth item but it’s taking a backseat to the above items. The unofficial fifth item is to learn to create and code Wordpress themes (shawnw.org uses Wordpress) and this article over at iThemes is a great tool for helping me take that next step.
What’s next month look like
My goals for the next month is to make sure I’m getting closer to meeting the above goals. Working out at least three times a week, practicing guitar at least a couple times a week for 30 minutes at a time and posting new eBay auctions every week.
That’s it for now. See you on April 4th for my next update!
