Five quick tips that will help your golf game

image 1. KEEP YOUR HEAD DOWN – this is questionably the most critical part of the swing but the hardest to do. The body naturally wants to look up as the club nears the ball. You’ll have to think about keeping your head down during the entire swing.

2. Don’t take the club back any further than perpendicular to the ground – Stand facing a mirror and watch yourself as you swing back. At the top of your swing, your club should be perpendicular to the ground. If it’s further, you’re losing control of the club and you won’t hit the ball as crisply as you can.

3. Grip every club lightly – You should grip the club no harder than if you were holding a child’s hand. Gripping harder than that restricts your swing, causing you to lose power.

4. Turn your shoulders, not your arms – Grip the club with both hands. Imagine a triangle going from your left hand to your left shoulder to your right shoulder to your right hand. Your backswing is this triangle rotating around your trunk. Let your wrists relax near the top of the swing.

5. Swing as hard as you can – Several pros will tell you, swing as hard as you can. You can’t learn power later in life. Learn power early on, then focus on accuracy.
