SOLO

image I’ve been a big fan of Life Journaling for a long time. Before I started going to eXchange I really wasn’t sure of the best way to study the Bible and using the LJ method has really opened my eyes to not only getting more out of my devotion time but really cultivating in me a heart to hear from God.

I saw Los mention SOLO and decided I had to check it out. I’m a big fan of The Message translation of the Bible and seeing that Eugene Peterson was the one who put SOLO together (Eugene also put The Message together), I was sold.

Here’s a quick product description that might give you some more insight as to how SOLO does things:

This innovative devotional is designed to change how readers interact with God’s Word. Revolving around ‘lectio divina’, or ‘divine reading’, each devotion delivers a unique, contemplative study for the reader to uncover and contemplate.

I must say, I’m very glad I’m putting SOLO through its paces. It’s a fresh new way to look at and study scripture and Eugene offers unique avenues to stop and allow yourself to hear God speak to you.

Click here to get SOLO for $11.15 from BooksChristian.com.

Check it out today, I think you’ll be happy you did.

Word of God speak

I think I like this version of the song better than MercyMe’s version.

Word of God speak
Would You pour down like rain
Washing my eyes to see
Your majesty
To be still and know
That You’re in this place
Please let me stay and rest
In Your holiness
Word of God speak

What say ye?

Chat with me. Live. Right now.

Depending upon when you’re reading this, you might actually be able to chat with me right now.

Look over there -> to the right, under my picture. See that little balloon that looks like this:

chatback

Click on the blue Chat with Shawn Wallace (either above or over there in the sidebar) and BAM, we can talk. Depends on what I’ve got going on but more often than not, if it says available then I am, in fact, available.

Try it. Go ahead. I don’t bite.

60SMR: 3:10 to Yuma

image Just so you know, 60SMR = 60 Second Movie Review. Warning!!! Spoilers ahead.

I’m a sucker for westerns. If Silverado or Open Range comes on TNT or AMC, that’s it. I’m done. I’ll cancel plans to watch those to the end (that’s an exaggeration, mind you. I’m trying to make a point).

Unfortunately, there’s one thing Silverado and Open Range has that 3:10 doesn’t. A happy ending. 3:10 is a great western with a fine story and characters I not only related to but became endeared to which is a testament to the script and the director’s abilities.

I wanted to see Christian Bale deliver Russell Crowe to the prison train (the 3:10 to Yuma) so he could get the money promised him (if he delivered Crowe) to save his ranch. Only one part is accomplished, though, and all I can say is, 3:10’s ending is a sad one.

Don’t get me wrong. Get some popcorn and curl up on the couch. This movie is a very worthy rental.

When 3:10 to Yuma ends up on TNT in a couple years, I’ll watch it the first time it’s on. But only that once.

Have you seen 3:10 to Yuma? If so, what did you think?
