Live fully. Die empty.

Fully flared

I usually keep fun links and stuff over on my Tumblog but I had to share this one right here on shawnw.org. Thanks to dooce for the hook up.

I challenge you to be a male and NOT like this video. Furthermore, if you hang on until right around 3:45 and stick with it until the end, there’s a fantastic payoff. I promise. This video is borderline art.

What? Come on, have I ever led you astray?

Ok, don’t answer that.

My thoughts on Cloverfield

image I saw Cloverfield this past Saturday with the wife, daughter and daughter’s friend. It was actually part of a secret little trip I’d planned where we dined at Claddagh, did some very light shopping then saw the movie at a DLP theater about 45 minutes from home.

Before we talk about Cloverfield, let me tell you another story first.

I was on a cruise recently and got sick from feeling the ship rock back and forth. I became part of the religious cult known as "Those Who Wear That Patch Behind Their Ear," and said patch worked wonders. If you’re not familiar with it, there’s a little patch you can get from your doctor that you wear behind your ear that helps with motion sickness and, in the case of being on a cruise ship, sea sickness.

"But Shawn," you might ask, "what does this have to do with Cloverfield?"

How to easily manage your logins and passwords

My pal Kat has posted up a nice Geek 101 article that’ll help you get your usernames and passwords under control. Here’s a snippet:

As a web geek, I find that I have dozens….scores….perhaps hundreds of “accounts” at different sites. It used to be SUCH a headache to manage all of them. I made frequent use of the “Forgot Your Password” link until I came up with what I consider to be a tried and true system [...]

Go check out Kat’s article here, it’s a good read and I think her system is pretty solid. Thanks Kat!

My tools and toolbox

image Los made a great post talking about the toolbox and tools he uses to get things done as Service Programmer at Buckhead Church.

My full time job is Customer Care Manager of an ISP in the midwest but my love and passion in relation to technology is web design (which I don’t get to do enough of) and some graphic design. I also serve as Gathering Coordinator for eXchange (a volunteer position) and I believe I’m the unofficial tech consultant for about 100 friends.

I say, let’s make this thing viral so get on the bandwagon and tell me what your tools and toolbox looks like.

For now, though, here’s mine. Thanks to VirtualErn for the image.
